Ross Castle is a very popular tourist attraction and is located just outside the town of Killarney, approximately 2km. The castle was built in the late 15th century and sits on the banks of Lough Leane which looks out at Inisfallen Island.
The castle, which has been restored, is open to visitors from April to October however you can explore the grounds all year round. It is best to book tickets in advance as it can be very busy during the summer season. You can also take a boat trip from the castle out on the Lakes of Killarney and to Inisfallen Island.
There is on board commentary which informs you of all the history of the lakes and is sure to be a fun day out for all the family to enjoy.
You can also take a Jaunting Car tour to Ross Castle from Killarney town where you will learn about the local history as you ride through the National Park on this old-fashioned horse and carriage. Jaunting Car tours leave from outside the door of our sister property, Great Southern Killarney, which is within walking distance of the hotel. To view our Special Offers please click here.
