Muckross House and Gardens; One of Ireland's most popular visitor attractions, this magnificent Victorian Mansion should be top of your list of activities while in Killarney and is most definitely a must see. The mansion was built in 1943 in a Tudor Style with a total of 65 rooms and features all the artifacts and furnishings dating back to the 19th century. Later in 1850 further extensions were carried out in preparation for Queen Victoria’s arrival.
The house is now a museum for the public to visit, with many of the rooms now restored to their original Victorian splendour. Muckross Gardens boasts spectacular features such as a Rock Garden, a Stream Garden and a Sunken Garden for you to explore.
Muckross Traditional Farms are situated adjacent to Muckross House, portraying the traditional farming methods and way of life of a typical rural community in 1930 and for younger visitors to enjoy, there is a small farm animal petting area.
